Signs that might prompt you to contact a Physical Therapist

  • Delayed milestones (i.e. sitting, crawling, walking)

  • Core body weakness in the trunk muscles

  • Low muscle tone causing weakness or spasticity causing muscle tightness

  • Trouble walking or frequent loss of balance (i.e. tripping and falling)

  • Appears clumsy or uncoordinated

  • Difficulty using stairs, jumping or balancing on one foot

  • Not able to keep up with peers in running, outdoor play structures or sports

  • Poor posture to sit with stability or to walk erect

  • Requires assistance in ordering a wheelchair, leg orthotics or therapeutic equipment

  • Poor eye-hand/leg coordination to kick, play catch or hop
